05:35:42 <zzo38> I asked on here before about passing a structure of two 32-bit integers by value in a argument and as a return value of a function in C. I am using 64-bit x86, and my question had been answered for that case. But, what is the efficiency of this for 32-bit ARM and 64-bit ARM?
06:21:37 <shachaf> Presumably the calling convention varies by platform.
06:26:20 <shachaf> It looks to me from just typing some code into a compiler that a struct of two 32-bit integers is represented as a single 64-bit integer.
06:26:24 <shachaf> At least in return values?
06:27:54 <zzo38> At least I know this is the case for 64-bit x86 since it has been tried before. However, the code may run on systems other than 64-bit x86, such as 32-bit x86, 64-bit ARM, and 32-bit ARM.
06:28:00 <shachaf> I just passed too high of an optimization flag and it tried to be tricky with vector instructions.
06:28:20 <shachaf> I was testing for "ARM64 gcc" on Godbolt, whatever that is.

15:47:38 <int-e> Sigh. So yes, Android's USB tethering just makes the device act as a USB network device. So... you get an easy local connection (with a fixed IP on their side, 192.168.42.129). What you don't get is... anything that would enable your end to be the default gateway (via dhcp or manual configuration). Not without rooting the device, that is.
