06:23:18 <zzo38> Recently, I played the GURPS game (role playing game).
06:23:27 <zzo38> My character cannot fly fast enough to catch the pigeon, so instead I paid them to send another one after the first one, with a note to disregard the previous message. (I do not know what the previous message says, but I suspect they are trying to discredit or frame me or something like that.)
06:23:35 <zzo38> And then, once we reached the destination, the inspector said that they think we have illegal cargo and have to search it before we can come out, and they said that it would take all day, even though normally it takes only one hour. It seem that they are trying to delay us. So, we untied the ship while they were searching it, in order to go to a different shore, and then the people searching it jumped into the water.

18:53:42 <b_jonas> so apparently there are sixteen trigonometric functions conventionally defined: sine, cosine, tangent, cotangent, secant, cosecant, versine, coversine, vercosine, covercosine, haversine, hacoversine, havercosine, hacovercosine, exsecant, excosecant. plus each one has an inverse function named with the "arc" prefix. now I'm imagining a calculator that has three trigonometric function buttons
18:53:48 <b_jonas> unconventionally labeled "sin", "tan", "sec", plus four modifier buttons, one for inverse labelled "inv/arc/area", one for hyperbolic functions labeled "hyp", one that's just called "co", and one multi-function one labeled "ver/ex/ha"
18:54:29 <b_jonas> and you have to press the modifiers not only in the right multiplicity but also in the right order to distinguish vercosine from coversine
18:56:57 <b_jonas> it doesn't seem like there are such things yet as hasine, vertangent, exsine, versecant, haexsecant, and I don't know if there are any extended hyperbolic functions. maybe we can get Taneb to invent some of these.
18:57:14 <b_jonas> `? tanebventions: math
18:57:17 <HackEso> Mathematical tanebventions include D-modules, Chu spaces, the torus, Stephen Wolfram, Klein bottles, string diagrams, linear logic, the reals, Lambek's lemma, Curry's paradox, Stone spaces, algebraic geometry, locales, and histograms.
18:59:32 <b_jonas> also obviously the calculator would have a physical rad/deg/grad switch
19:08:59 <olsner> https://github.com/olsner/pf/ hey, I found an esolang I apparently made 13 years ago :) no documentation
19:10:19 <b_jonas> olsner: do you mean that that's one that you made?
19:13:22 <olsner> b_jonas: yeah, found the repo on my private git server earlier so copied it over to github
19:14:16 <olsner> not quite sure how it works (and if it's possible to write any programs in it), but starting to figure out some things at least
19:16:23 <olsner> or.. of course it's possible to write programs, they might just not be able to do anything useful
