I mean... 1) you have to start when the problem unlocks 2) you basically can't hit any roadblocks (parsing the problem, approach to solving, possinle misinterpretations, bugs)... and even then you need to be kind of fast. For me, it gets a bit easier towards the end as people drop out and problems become harder.
