22:27:06 <arseniiv_> b_jonas: reading finally what you suggested, I’m confounded why is it good to swap 6 7 and 6' 7' when the river changes the branch which is flowing

22:58:12 <int-e> Oh the alternation is automatic because of the way the disks push off each other... that's cute.
23:02:07 <int-e> arseniiv: I'm not sure how serious the idea of swapping the roles of primed and unprimed places was. Abstractly it makes sense though... basically, rather than pushing river tiles left or right at the junction, you flip the boats over to the other side. That's equivalent and takes one bit less information to store. But for humans... it's probably confusing.
23:08:20 <arseniiv> int-e: I think 1-bit economy is a bit too much :D
23:09:08 <int-e> it'll make a huge difference for endgame tablebases ;)
23:09:55 <arseniiv> well then it can be compressed separately :~|
23:10:00 <int-e> (I have not even estimated the state space; it's probably too big. But it's a factor of 2 for that.)
23:12:56 <arseniiv> wrote a simple extractor of OGG-formatted files from some format used by a game, and it seems to finally work but there are CRC32 mismatches all over the place (which I ignore). Can’t find what’s the issue is, what do I do wrong; I just use an existing crc32 function in python, it should by all means be the same the spec wants, but somehow I calculate it from the wrong data or something
23:13:54 <arseniiv> (I parse ogg pages and note where do logical streams start and finish, and cut there afterwards)
23:14:40 <arseniiv> (and pages themselves parse okay, all their invariants seem to be there, except for checksums)
23:15:27 <arseniiv> int-e: it should be pretty big because of exponential-ish canoe-on-river-circle arrangement
23:16:04 <arseniiv> well, and all gem ownerships
23:17:45 <arseniiv> except if a player owns more than one of the winning conditions, then we almost don’t get those states because one round is not much state movement
23:30:40 <arseniiv> now I get two different checksums when I calculate them differently but presumable from the same data…
23:30:50 -!- arseniiv has quit (Quit: gone too far).
23:49:48 <int-e> <3 endianness
23:57:44 <int-e> (binascii.crc32() has the silly complementation tweak (initial state is 0xffffffff and the final result is negated too), big endian data, little endian bytes and words. ogg's crc32 apparently doesn't have the complementation tweak, and big endian data and big endian bytes and words. In all this, the little end of polynomials over GF(2) is the constant term.)
23:58:42 <int-e> So... to get ogg's crc32 from python's, you'd have to 1) reverse the bits in all bytes of the data. 2) prepend b'\xff\xff\xff\xff', 3) compute the crc32 of that, complement the result, and reverse the bits of that.
