00:31:42 <fizzie> b_jonas: You might possibly count the Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six series, where the first game (the 1998 Rainbow Six) was a 3D first-person "tactical shooter", but the 2000 "port" (if you can call it that) to the Game Boy Color is a top-down 2D game (but with the same storyline and such).
00:31:51 <fizzie> Or so I'm told by the Internet, I've played neither.
00:32:40 <fizzie> It may not really count as a "sequel" though (it shares the name, and is arguably a "version" rather than "sequel"), and it's apparently not all that good either.
00:38:47 <fizzie> Also this quick test of the Gemini "function calling" API (plugging it into the MediaWiki search and fetch APIs) was fun, it's really a shame there's no free tier in EU/UK that I could use to plug it into the bot: https://0x0.st/XKFO.txt

01:17:57 <zzo38> Which Kingdom Hearts game do you mean (to be specific)?
01:19:58 <zzo38> Also there is consideration of 2D vs 3D graphics and 2D vs 3D movement. (And then, there will be the games that do not have any graphics at all)

21:45:45 <b_jonas> if I want to refer to the phenomenon where new users find that arithmetic on (binary) floating point doesn't always give the exact result, should I call this "1.1 + 0.3 > 1.4" or "0.4 - 0.4 < 0.1"? I want to use a statement that works with either 32-bit or 64-bit floats, and these are the smallest such examples with multiples of one tenth.
21:53:46 <int-e> 0.4 - 0.4 < 0.1 is not very convincing. (I guess it's supposed to be 0.5 - 0.4)
21:54:14 <JAA> 0.1 + 0.2 != 0.3 would be the classical example, but I'm not sure it holds for single precision.
21:54:28 -!- __monty__ has quit (Quit: leaving).
21:54:35 <b_jonas> sorry, that should be "0.5 - 0.4 < 0.1"
21:56:37 <int-e> > 0.1 + 0.2 == (0.3 :: Float)
21:56:42 <int-e> > 0.1 + 0.2 == (0.3 :: Double)
21:56:46 <b_jonas> JAA: that one doesn't work for 32-bit floats
21:58:26 <b_jonas> options include "0.6 + 0.3 != 0.9", "1.1 + 0.3 > 1.4", "0.5 - 0.4 < 0.1", "0.3 - 0.2 != 0.1"
22:02:24 <b_jonas> if you're fine with just 64-bit floats then indeed "0.2 + 0.1 > 0.3" works. while for 32-bit floats "0.4 + 0.3 > 0.7" works
